Monett MO Commercial Water and Sewer Rates: October 2026 Bill Check
Direct answer
Monett's October 2026 billing cycle applies adopted water and sewer steps effective October 1. The water base is $22, sewer base $23, and industrial water minimums depend on meter size. Rebuild usage by block, treat the industrial minimum as a credited floor, and check whether extra-strength sewer or outside-city charges apply.
Monett's October 2026 water and sewer step changes base and usage rates. Rebuild each block and treat industrial meter minimums as credited floors.
October 1
Effective step
2026 water and sewer schedule.
$22.00
Water base
Includes the first 1,000 gallons.
$3.21
Sewer excess
Per 1,000 gallons above the first 1,000.
Adopted October step
Rebuild each base and usage block
The base amounts cover the first 1,000 gallons; the remaining entries are usage prices per 1,000 gallons. Industrial meter minimums are credited floors rather than additional fixed charges.

Apply the scheduled step to October service
The City's October 22 notice says customers will see the increase on the October billing cycle. The rate was not newly adopted in October 2026: the notice identifies it as one step in a six-year structure approved by the City Council on April 10, 2025.
Match the bill's service period and usage units before comparing it with an earlier statement. The general water schedule includes the first 1,000 gallons in the base amount, then prices successive blocks; the sewer schedule uses a first-1,000-gallon amount and one excess rate.
Treat the industrial meter minimum as a floor
For the October 2026 step, the monthly industrial water minimums are $23 for a 5/8-inch through 2-inch meter, $34 for 3 inches, $51 for 4 inches, $102 for 6 inches and $153 for 8 inches. The corresponding October 2025 amounts were $20, $30, $45, $90 and $135.
The code says each minimum is due regardless of water supplied and is credited against the monthly charge for water supplied. Calculate the applicable usage charge and compare it with the meter-size minimum; do not add the minimum on top.
Check exceptions before using the example
The example below assumes an ordinary in-city, non-irrigation, non-bulk account with standard-strength sewer discharge. Outside-city service, irrigation and bulk water require different treatment; obtain the applicable account rules before extending the example.
Industrial wastewater characteristics can produce a separate extra-strength charge. Ask the City which sewer volume and strength data govern the account, and reconcile taxes, penalties and other services separately.
Hypothetical in-city monthly tariff comparison
At 100,000 gallons, the selected water and sewer charges rise $14.79
Assume one ordinary in-city account uses 100,000 gallons for both water and sewer in a monthly period. Apply the October 2025 and October 2026 schedules to the same volume; exclude irrigation, bulk water, the outside-city premium and extra-strength wastewater.
| Selected charge | October 2025 step | October 2026 step |
|---|---|---|
| Water base, first 1,000 gallons | $20.00 | $22.00 |
| Water: next 9,000 gallons | $34.65 | $35.01 |
| Water: next 90,000 gallons | $336.60 | $341.10 |
| Water subtotal | $391.25 | $398.11 |
| Sewer: first 1,000 gallons | $22.00 | $23.00 |
| Sewer: next 99,000 gallons | $310.86 | $317.79 |
| Sewer subtotal | $332.86 | $340.79 |
| Selected water and sewer total | $724.11 | $738.90 |
Water calculation: $22 + 9 × $3.89 + 90 × $3.79 = $398.11. Sewer calculation: $23 + 99 × $3.21 = $340.79. The $738.90 current total is $14.79 above the same-volume October 2025 calculation. At this usage, even the $153 eight-inch industrial minimum is below the modeled water charge; if that minimum applies, it does not bind. This is a tariff illustration, not an actual bill or guaranteed outcome; taxes, penalties and other services are excluded.
Decision checklist
What to check first on the statement
- 1Confirm City of Monett service, the October billing period and whether the account is inside the City.
- 2Identify general, irrigation, bulk or industrial treatment and record the meter size.
- 3Calculate water blocks, then compare the usage charge with any industrial meter minimum as a credited floor.
- 4Verify sewer volume and any extra-strength assessment before reproducing the sewer line.
Scope boundary
Where Smart Valve realistically fits
The adopted step changes the tariff even when consumption is unchanged. Establish the rate-only comparison before attributing a bill change to operations, leaks or equipment.
A water-management project can affect measured usage; it does not remove the applicable base amount, industrial floor, outside-city premium or wastewater-strength charge. Validate savings with comparable operating periods and actual bills.
